As summer wanes and autumn approaches, the wonderful world of crocosmia is waking up. These unique flowers have
three major attributes that make them a “must have” in your cooler.
|
Crocosmia and our exclusive Versailles white Freesia |
- Color: The blooms are a deep orange tinged red. This color is the essence of fall. As you look closer, you see the almost zebra like stripes of yellow on the buds, the combination of red, orange and yellow in a single cluster of blooms is exceptionally rare.
|
Crocosmia and Royal Sunset Lilies |
- Length: Our beefy stems are grade 36’ to 40’ inches, providing serious “Wow.” In an enhanced bunch or as a consumer bunch these beauties make a statement.
- BOTANICAL BONUS FEATURE: Check out the sword shaped leaves, aren’t they cool? They almost look like a tropical design element. The leaves are very strong and will work great in your design, and we don’t charge extra for the leaves!
|
Crocosmia, Bach Royal Lilies, Versailles Freesia and Huckleberry |
- Texture: Each stem has multiple rib like blooms that provide a depth of texture and give your bouquets an extra dimension. Is there any trend hotter than “texture” right now?
We grow this crop in two different ways. We have field production that puts on a dramatic show, out in the open against the perennially gray skies of Humboldt County.

Then we have production in our hoop houses, which is where we can control the crop more and stagger production. By covering and uncovering the crop we can protect it and speed up or slow down how fast it grows.

The goal is to keep this crop in production through Thanksgiving, as this color scheme is just perfect for all of autumn.

Right now as the nights get cooler and the rains of summer dry up, it is time to let yourself go and fall in love with crocosmia.
