Sun Valley’s Viburnum Season is just kicking off. These mop-topped beauties signal that spring has truly arrived at our farm in Willow Creek, CA.
As the season starts the Viburnum is green, and then as the days get warmer the blooms will transition to white, giving them their nickname, “Snowballs.”
This crop is the epitome of a “Seasonal Specialty,” which Sun Valley can offer farm direct. The season goes by too quickly, and there is a big demand for these botanical wonders. (hint, hint)
The “early season” viburnums are green, then the “late season” viburnum are white. Not many plants can pull off this chameleon-esc transition. Right now we are on the very front end of the season, so solid green heads are what we are shipping.
The texture of Viburnum is also one of its strong suits. In fact, right now consumers are loving any flower or green that provides texture. Go ahead, feel the viburnum!
